Our Story - The History of Daily Freight
Daily Freight has a fantastic history in the New Zealand freight landscape. Since opening in 1967 by Trevor Farmer and operating out of Auckland and Christchurch, the business rapidly grew as it became a key part of the Freightways Group. Daily Freight Auckland relocated to the current site at O’Rorke Road in 1972, and was acquired by the Mainfreight Group in 1994.
When Blue and Red came together
The transition into the Mainfreight family was a very colourful time in our history, but left us with a very tightknit team of people overseeing the brand and now plays a key role in its New Zealand wide distribution network. Daily Freight has built a reputation for providing excellent service to customers, built on a system of branch and individual responsibility that sets us apart in a very demanding and competitive industry.
What we can do for you
Our facilities are multi-modal allowing flexibility in service offerings for our customer base with increased South Island road capacity connecting to our Christchurch facility and beyond. We position ourselves towards the general LCL market, but offer several key areas of speciality. To consistently achieve service excellence we will continue to grow our extensive branch network throughout New Zealand, strive for operational excellence and have prosperous partnerships with a diverse customer base. Our motto ‘our people make the difference’ is not just a saying on our trucks and buildings, but a key part of our everyday successes.
